Standards behind what we publish
Property Front Page aims to publish accurate, useful and trustworthy property journalism, guidance and analysis. This policy explains the principles behind our editorial work.
Accuracy
Important factual claims are checked against suitable sources, particularly where law, regulation, statistics or technical information are involved.
Sources
We prefer primary and authoritative sources where they are available and link to useful supporting information where appropriate.
Independence
Our editorial judgement is independent of outside interests.
What we publish
Property Front Page covers property matters affecting homeowners, buyers, sellers, renters, landlords, business occupiers, investors, developers and property professionals.
Different readers need different levels of detail. A guide for a first-time buyer will therefore be approached differently from analysis intended for an experienced property professional.
News, guidance and analysis
News articles explain relevant developments and why they matter. Guidance articles help readers understand a subject, problem or decision. Analysis may consider consequences, competing interpretations or wider trends.
Where material represents opinion or interpretation rather than established fact, that should be clear from the context.
National and regional coverage
Property Front Page is a UK-wide publication. We also develop regional coverage where there is enough genuine reader value to justify it.
We do not create near-identical local versions of articles simply to target different locations in search engines.
Accuracy and sources
We aim to ensure important factual claims are accurate when an article is published.
Where an article relies on legislation, regulation, government guidance, statistics, technical standards or similar information, we check the important points against suitable sources.
If information is uncertain, disputed or depends heavily on individual circumstances, we aim to make that clear.
We do not knowingly publish invented statistics, quotations, research, professional experience or case studies.
Authoritative sources
We prefer primary and authoritative sources where available. These may include legislation, GOV.UK, government departments, regulators, HMRC, the Office for National Statistics, local authorities, professional bodies and original research.
Other reliable sources may also be used where they provide useful reporting, specialist knowledge or context.
Legal, financial and technical subjects
Property articles often touch on legal, financial, planning, surveying and technical matters. We take particular care with these subjects because small errors can significantly alter their meaning.
Property Front Page provides general editorial information and does not replace individual professional advice where that is required.
Updating and correcting our work
Property information changes. Laws, government guidance, taxation, planning policy, market data and professional practice can all change over time.
Where an existing article remains useful, we may update it rather than publish a substantially duplicate replacement.
Minor wording, spelling and formatting changes may be made without a correction notice.
Where we correct a significant factual error, we may add a correction or update note where readers would otherwise be misled.
Corrections
We welcome reports of factual errors. If reliable evidence shows that an important point is wrong, we aim to correct it.
A disagreement over interpretation or opinion does not necessarily mean an article is inaccurate.
Our Corrections & Complaints Policy explains how to raise an issue.
Editorial independence and responsibility
Editorial decisions are based on relevance, evidence and reader benefit. Outside interests cannot direct our conclusions.
We consider potential conflicts of interest and disclose material relationships where readers need that information.
Editorial technology
Property Front Page is guided by human editorial judgement. We select subjects for their relevance to readers and assess what the evidence supports.
We use a range of research, writing and publishing tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support information gathering, analysis, drafting, editing and presentation. Technology supports our editorial work; it does not decide what we publish or replace human oversight.
Our articles are reviewed, checked against appropriate sources, edited and approved before publication. Responsibility for accuracy, fairness, independence and corrections remains with the Property Front Page Editorial Team.
Reader feedback
Readers can send editorial feedback through our Contact page. Potential factual errors and complaints about published material should be raised through our corrections process.
